Si2 Welcomes Four New Members to the Board of Directors

The Si2 Board of Directors elections were held in May of this year and three new members were elected.  In addition, Si2 welcomed aboard Hong Sok Choi from SK Hynix earlier in the year.

Juan C. Rey, Vice President of Government Programs, Siemens EDA: Juan C. Rey recently re-joined Siemens EDA as Vice President of Government Programs and is responsible for identifying technical needs in government funded activities and projects where Siemens EDA can contribute. Before that, he was the Vice President of Engineering, Calibre, joining Mentor Graphics in 2001 as senior engineering director for Mentor’s industry-leading Calibre product line, directing all development activities for Calibre products, a role he performed until December 2021. Previously he was the Vice President of Engineering at Extend Corporation, managing all software development and quality activities. Prior to that he was an engineering director for Physical Verification at Cadence Design Systems. Earlier positions include: manager/developer for Process Modeling and Parasitic Extraction at Technology Modeling Associates; visiting scholar/ science and engineering associate at Stanford University; senior research engineer at INVAP, Argentina; and associate professor at Universidad Nacional del Comahue, Argentina. Juan holds a degree in Nuclear Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina. The author or co-author of numerous papers and conference presentations, he serves on the Executive Technology Advisory Board of Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) and the UCLA Center for Domain-Specific Computing.

 

Lluis Paris Sr. Director of 3DFabric Alliance, TSMC: Lluis Paris is responsible for TSMC’s advanced packaging ecosystem. Lluis built the legal and business framework for 3Dblox, an advanced packaging standard describing chiplet geometry and connectivity, which was joined by Ansys, Cadence, Intel, Siemens, and Synopsys. Before joining TSMC, Lluis successfully founded a start-up in Canada and worked at Intel. He holds an M.B.A. from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. He also holds a Ph.D. in Microelectronics and a M.S. Degree in Computer Science, both from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain.

 

 

 

Niels Fache, Vice President and GM, Keysight EDA, Keysight EDA: Niels is responsible for Keysight’s EDA portfolio. In his most recent positions, he was vice president and general manager of the Remarketing Solutions Division and then the Keysight Services Portfolio Organization, both part of Keysight’s Global Services Organization (KGSO). He was co-founder and CEO of Alphabit, which developed the electromagnetic simulator Momentum, now part of the Keysight EDA Advanced Design System. Niels holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in electrical engineering, both from the University of Ghent, Belgium, where he also served as a part-time professor from 1995 to 1997. He has a business degree from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, and has completed coursework at the Stanford Center for Professional Development.

 

 

 

Hong Sok Choi, Vice President Computer Aided Engineering Group Hongsok Choi is vice president of the Computer Aided Engineering group, responsible for in-house CAD tool development and customizing commercial EDA products since December 2023 at SK-hynix. For over the 31 years, he has designed and developed various commercial memory products. He started as a SRAM circuit designer in 1993, and most of his career has been in DRAM/NAND development from 1995 until 2023. Right before joining the CAE group, he served as the design manager for the 8th Generation 3D NAND product. He holds a M.S. degree in Electric & Electronic Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Technology.
