We are happy to announce that Viraphol Chaiyakul from NXP has been elected to the Si2 Board of Directors. Viraphol is currently Senior Director of Engineering at NXP, where he leads the Digital Design Enablement team. In this role, Viraphol is responsible for the development, deployment, and qualification of best-in-class digital design tools, flows, and methodologies across system to GDS.
Before joining NXP, Viraphol co-founded Belmont Computing, architecting next-generation frameworks for hardware DevOps and workflow automation in SoC design and verification, and driving the company’s first successful customer deployment. He also served on the technical advisory boards for Defacto Technologies and Baum Design Systems.
Previously, Viraphol was Senior Director of Engineering at Qualcomm, responsible for frontend CAD flows, methodologies, and tools. He played a key role in establishing centralized CAD solutions and operations for all SoCs, subsystems and IPs, and led initiatives that delivered significant annual ROI.
Earlier in his career, Viraphol co-founded Y Explorations, serving as CEO and leading the development of the industry’s first-generation ANSI C high-level synthesis and SystemC/SpecC codesign solutions. He also managed fundraising and achieved multiple successful customer adoptions.
Viraphol began his professional journey as a research faculty member at the University of California, Irvine, where he led research in high-level synthesis and system modeling. He holds a Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science from UC Irvine and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from UC San Diego.
In addition to his corporate roles, Viraphol has represented Qualcomm on the Accellera committees and is a founding member of the SpecC Consortium.
