OPDKC Introduction

OpenPDK Coalition Introduction

The OpenPDK Coalition was founded in mid-2010 with the goal of defining a set of open standards to allow an OpenPDK to be created once and then translated into specific EDA vendor tools and specific foundry formats. This will allow an OpenPDK to be as portable across foundries and as agnostic to EDA tools as possible. The Si2 OpenPDK standard will enable greater efficiency in PDK development, verification, and delivery. It will provide equivalent support to all stakeholders: foundries, EDA tool vendors, IP providers, and end-users.

The goals of the OpenPDK Coalition for 2012 include the first release of the Open Process Specification standard, i.e., OPS v1.0. This will include a
symbol standard, a design parameter standard, and a callback standard developed within this coalition, as well as, include the OpenDFM and OPEX standards already developed by the DFM Coalition. The Coalition will also provide collateral to support adoption among member companies.

.

Major Accomplishments - 2011

  • XSD/XML approved as the representation for the OPS standard
  • Contributions made by member companies to accelerate standards development in the area of process parameters and symbols
  • Technical work completed as a prerequisite to specifying the first 3 components of the OPS v1.0 standard - symbols, callbacks and parameters
